What Book Should I Read First?

There are a lot of good ones on that list. I recommend reading either "The Hobbit" or "David Copperfield" first -- they're mature and highly entertaining without being really difficult. "Tess of the d'Urbervilles", "The Picture of Dorian Gray", and "Les Miserables" are favorites of mine, as well, and I recommend them with the warning that they can be a bit weighty.
