Cracked Transmission? HELP!!!!?

I have a 94 mk3 jetta 2.0 - 5spd. I recently put it into 1st and began to drive off when seconds later i heard a loud clanking noise. I immediately began to loose oil but not from the oil pan. It was leaking from a nice size crack in a casing on the drivers side where the left axle goes into. Im uming thats the transmission. the crack is about 6 inches and theres what looks like 1 or 2 holes caused from whatever happened. Please help with any ideas or reccomendations. Thank you
