Can the name of a fictional place in a story be legally reused by someone else?

To simplify what I am asking can I for instance write a story about people who names their town Oz because they are fans of the book Wizard of Oz? Would this be some sort of copyright infringement? If the example of Oz is okay because of it's old age then can I use a newer place? Could I write a story where the inhabitants named their town Alderaan because they are Star Wars fans or would I be risking copyright infringement?
